For the woman I love
Tomorrow - after 24 years of deliciously unmarried bliss - Meg and I are getting married, so today’s post is a little celebration of our love. :)
If this is you,
if that was me,
look how the Earth
held the water, gently,
how the water held us,
bearing us up, lovingly,
how we held the air - all that blue
mystery balanced on your belly, domed up
to infinity, and all that sunlight wrapped around
it all sealing it in, settling over everything - earth, water,
us and the atmosphere not letting anything go unnoticed, each
gold sand grain illuminated, each ripple delineated, each breath an expansion
of the life within us, of the love which brought us here, of the memory we now hold.
Note to readers:
This is a shaped poem - meant to be read on a full screen. Each line is longer than the last, making a gradual expansion…
On a mobile phone the lines are clipped and it looks a bit odd, though the love remains the same! :)
If you want to know more:

The world is a better world with you two in it and in love. Is it any wonder that the ocean supports you as do we all. Blessings to you both.
Marvelous! Seeing as how I love you the dickens to the moon and back and so so much much more, I must now declare my undying love to Meg. I love you, Meg. I figure you must be an extraordinarily special person to be with Dave. Congrats and carry on, my comrades in love. I wish you as much happiness as Dale and I have been enjoying these long, but oh so brief, 37 years of marriage. We were only together 5 months before we married, so you guys have the jump on the unwedded bliss!
