Hi Lucinda

Thank you.

I have a life long passion for mountains, and everything about them…

Although - I feel the same about deserts, rainforest, ocean….

Sigh

Ah!! It’s a place I had wanted to see all my life, almost. 18 year old me, hitch hiking around Europe, never quite got there, so last year was a long delayed pilgrimage… I’m delighted you like my little post!

It might take me a while to get around to it, but there will be posts to come with words and images of wilderness here in Australia…. So many wild places….

You've made your photos seem somewhat flat compared to your words. A beautiful read, Dave.

"water released from the slow, rock grinding, chain gang prison of ice" was wonderful.

Thankyou, Adam!

Like many of us here, I carry a notebook around with me a lot of the time, and always while travelling. Meg and I (yes - my wonderful partner is a Meg too) also have shared notebooks, where I write and she draws. Some of her work appears here on my Substack, and there will be more.

This piece of writing is something I wrote while I sat on a boulder in a cold wind, shivering, the luminous mountains looking over my shoulder. It might have become something larger, or I could have rendered it down and used the essence as a piece in some other form, but in the end it decided it wanted to stay like this.

Yeah - glaciers..... People look at mountains and think they are all about rock, but in reality they are all about water....
