What a lovely reflection, David. Thank you for sharing it along with your photos and Megβs art. Best wishes to you both. I hope Meg finds some relief from the pain. π
We are both more than a little distracted at present - Meg by her pain and me by my concern for her. She can barely use her dominant arm at all, and art is impossible, so 2026 has been arduous so far.
However, we just had a call from the Neurosurgeon - he has brought her appointment forward fr 6 August to next Tuesday. Itβs a 500km/300 mile drive to get there, but we love travelling together.
I would think that your poem and this post is the best medicine for Meg. Love always is, isn't it?
My love had a similar injury and it has been 7 years now since he had his neck fused. It made all the difference. Many prayers and all hope for similar healing for your dear Meg. I know my husband understands that pain, and you and I understand how hard it is to see our loves enduring it. This too, shall pass. Get through the best you can.
Also - thank you for the interesting information about your husband. Yes - it is agonising watching them go through this. I do all I can - as you will have done - but I still feel a bit helpless. Deeply reassuring to hear that your husbandβs operation helped.
I had severe disc problems in my lumbar spine 20 years ago, and M was unfailingly wonderful in support. Now I can do the same for her. After every possible non-surgical treatment I finally had two operations, and have been mostly fine ever since - so yes - it can really work.
Well, Dave, you absolutely know the pain and challenges as well as being on the side of feeling helpless to ease another's pain. I am praying for Meg and for relief to arrive. My heart goes out to you both. Blessings and MUCH LOVE, ~WendyπππΌ
Breathtaking, you two. I love your collabs. The way you capture the light and shadow and the texture of the water, Meg, is so lovely. Saying a prayer now for your healing and recovery and for the right next steps to take. Thank you for this beautiful moment you shared with us.
Poor M is resting today, but she will love your kind comment when she sees it. Thank you my friend. We will get beyond this, and move on to better times, and more collaboration too ...
Thanks Richard. Itβs been a very hard year for M, and I do all I can to help. The good news is that this should be fixable, and in fact her appointment with the Neurosurgeon was just brought forward by over three weeks - a profound gift. So on Sunday we embark on the 500 km drive back to the city, but with optimismβ¦
Oh, friend Stephanie⦠Thank you! I am doing all I can to care for her - and today we have the good news that her appointment with the Neurosurgeon has been brought forward by three weeks.
Dear faraway friends, as I write this you are headed to the doctor, or already there, I wish I could take Megβs pain away. David, I am sorry you and Meg are going through this loss of everyday life, hopefully the doctors are able to help.
I am holding the both of you close in my thoughts, wishing you comfort and peace, sending the both of you the biggest hug from afar, love Geraldine
We make the long drive tomorrow. Today is a day of rest and preparation.
I know many people are dealing with much greater problems, and this one should be fixable, so I have a sense of perspective on this, but Iβm not the one in pain, and it is hard to watch this happening.
20 years ago it was me who had spinal problems, and M who felt helpless - yet did wonderful things that did indeed help. I came through fine, and 20 years later Iβm still climbing mountains and doing ridiculous things, so I am hopeful of a good outcome for M.
Love to you from us both
D & M :)
PS Thank you for the restack, as well, dear Geraldine.
How lovely, Dave. How beautiful. So sorry to hear of Meg's increasing difficulties. I am buried with caring for family, but I will get in touch when I can.
Thankyou so much!
