Oh Kiki. You would be welcome! This is the coast close to where we live. We have some favourite secret swimming spots. Very rare to see anyone else there....
Ahhh well. We only have friendly snakes at our place. A big Diamond Python, and a few little tree snakes. They are all shy, and seldom seen. You can hand feed the friendly Water Dragon lizards in Summer, and the King Parrots and Rainbow Lorikeets too....
Dave you have all the right topics to write about and you do it so well because your love and sense of contentment with the wonders of creation just shine through. Love this piece and love the pictures also.
I didn't realise the first time I saw it that the second last picture in your sequence is actually a video with all the sounds of the sea. So I've played it a few times now and it brings me right back to my homeplace of Tramore that has a beach over three miles long. When I'm there I'm inclined to collect shells and stones and sometimes feathers.
The problem I see with coming to Ireland is that you won't be able to leave. Just listen to Johnny Cash singing "Forty Shades of Green". It just weaves its spell and that's how it is.
What a dreamy setting and beautiful artistic partnership you have ✨ stunning words, you speak about place so well, you always transport me to where you are
Hey dear Alex. Thankyou for your very generous comment. Come visit us some time! There are so many beautiful places you would love. I know - it's hard to travel so far - but we can feel your own special places through your words, as you, it seems, through ours.
Hey Dave. Thanks! It was a happy photo to take. I love watching her draw and paint. Plenty of time to read later. Like all of us, I'm juggling reading time with writing time, family time, work time, exercise time...
We have the great good fortune to be together, and to love living and working and playing together. There are days when we have to be serious about serious things, but time out under the sky, by the ocean, in a forest or on a mountain.... is a delight beyond measure...
D and M, words draw me to see a place I’ve never been. Words coax me into your life sea shore stones ancient metaphorical millimeters splash with the clarity of abundant beauty and sound. Waves touch the shore. And to end with the beginning of a sketch by Meg. Maybe next time I’ll get to see the finished scene. Thanks for a journal entry shared.
Thankyou! The sea draws me in, even as M draws the sea.... I am not sure where her work from that day might be. We are far North of our home at present. However, Meg's next post on her own Substack will be a coastal scene, from the shores of gorgeous Aotearoa/New Zealand...
Thankyou dear Naz! The sky is my preferred tent. I never use an actual tent unless rain is pretty much certain.... (This has led to some wet nights when I got it wrong, but there is nothing better than sleeping under the stars).
Oh - not WA. We are on the East coast, facing the Pacific Ocean. These photos are from our closest piece of coastline, in Yuraygir National Park. The seas here are very clear and clean. We are quite a long way from anything you could call a city. The latitude and climate are sub-tropical. We even have a small amount of coral growing around the coast, if you know where to look....
I watch an influencer who lives in western AUS. The water there is also clear. It is really beyond my imaging that sea water could look like that. So impossibly lovely.
Ooohhh…. WA is lovely, but so is here. Also NZ. In fact, with your love of gorgeous sea - stay tuned for Meg’s next post, coming soon I think. She has created a picture of my favourite NZ sea cliff ocean location - there will be a photo too….
Thankyou for the restack, dear Peyton @Peyton Gold - I’m glad you enjoyed this. Oooh I have done a lot of seascape poetry and photography over this last 12 months. You may also enjoy: https://davidkirkby.substack.com/p/whangaumu
Lovely poetry of the deep blue sea - and gorgeous photos 💙
Thankyou dear Caroline. The sea writes its own poetry....
Best Wishes - Dave :)
Love the video!! I want to swim there! 🌊🌊🌊

D :)
Sounds like a plan! @rebeccacook13 and I will be there!!
We have two spare rooms and a camper van...... Maybe @jedmoffitt can come too :)
Sounds like a proper hooley!!! 🎊
Yep! In a heartbeat. Except....I am afraid of snakes and all the exotic critters ya'll have done there.

Thankyou my friend! We are getting more serious about a trip back to Ireland next year. Now Ireland - that's one of the right topics, to be sure!
So glad you like this one, Martin.
Best wishes to you from us both.
D and M :)

That is another very lovely way to travel.....

I would love to visit sometime! We have family over that way so a future trip is definitely in the works.
Dave,
This is wonderful as usual mate, thank you for sharing.
In particular, the portrait of Meg is superb, your love just shines from it. Fabulous work. 👏
Sorry to have got so far behind but the nights are drawing in so I’m going to try and catch up soon.
All the best to you both,
UK Dave

I can see it so clearly, the two of you, creating by the sea under the sky's blue tent. Love to you and Meg!!
Hi friend Ash!
Thankyou!

Love from us
D & M :)
Transported, Dave. The sweet spot. The mixed media of poetry and photos really is inspirational. Warm wishes to you and Meg.

What a serene poem, Dave. The sky as the blue tent. Love the pictures! ❤️

And I love learning new words-- susurration. Fantastic. How did I not know it before? And the water is so clear....do you live in western Australia?

Lovely. Makes me miss Lake Superior where I grew up, beside the waves & susseration of water
Hi Karen. Yes - isn't water evocative? The sea reminds me of other seas. The river we live beside speaks to me of other rivers, lakes, and times...
Best Wishes - Dave :)

My pleasure entirely! Thank you for sharing Whangaumu Bay.
That's okay. I was about to say - "you should write more, yourself." Then I checked - and you just have! I will comment there....
:)
