While creating this lament for the end of summer in Australia, David visits some familiar oceanic places where the waves are now colliding with the rocks and producing “salt-saturated air”, before heading for a quieter cove where he can end “a good day” … a good season … with a swim. There are some really good photos here to accompany a lively text. Wonderful, David!
Ah the final gift of the summer sea! I imagine a piece of paper, one edge winter (us, here in the North) and one edge summer (you down under) and I’m pulling that paper gently towards me, to bring in summer…
Ah, summer letting go into fall. What a lovely reflection, Dave. What well-being and beauty. Letting go gently. We are here for the duration of our days, and how lovely they can be. We are the dust of the luckiest stars.
Beautiful David, I love the turn of the seasons. We have had (maybe) our last deluge of rain for summer, and I can feel that crispness and thinning of the morning air as we approach the equinox 🌿
Thank you. Yes.... the seasons are an endless cyclical delight - more subtle here than in the higher altitudes, but no less wonderful. A little less sunshine on the Sunshine Coast - and a different taste to the air. Much the same here in the Northern Rivers....
This is so inviting, like a siren call. The sea, the waves, the light and David's words, the claiming of the last days of summer. Here in the northern hemisphere, the light has changed already, a summer tease is in the air. We just take longer to warm up here, an island in the North Sea.
Thank you my friend. I lived in London through an English Spring, long ago. So different to here - and to the Africa of your own younger days. Beautiful though! I hope your Springtime is a delight.

Thank you my friend.
Spring is coming to Cork!
Enjoy!
Best Wishes - Dave :)
Thank you, Dave. The weather is still a bit cold and damp, but the days are a lot brighter now.

Haha! It’s actually impossible to imagine spring right now … I can hear the snow plow scraping the snow on the road outside my window!
🥶
Lol Susan. When sharing a bed - I bet you hog the blankets!! 😂
You are welcome to some Spring and Summer tho, my friend. I think you deserve it!!
Best Wishes - Dave :)
Sounds like a beautiful day and what a lovely Nautilus. Thanks for the reminder that today is a good day and tomorrow too. 🙏🏼
Thank you, dear Laura

This post took me on a journey, I could feel the soft waves crashing on the rocks, the crips sea breeze , what a stunning piece of writing my friend.
Thank you, dear Aaliya. Writing is my delight, especially when good people enjoy it.
May the sea breeze find you wherever you are, and the sunlight too.
Best Wishes - Dave :)
How fabulous … l am waving Summer goodbye in Port Fairy this weekend. Yes, soon the whales 🐋🌊💙
Hey Simone.... Yes... whale time!
All seasons are a delight. They remind us that we are each a small part of the world - even those who forget.
Best Wishes - Dave :)
