The last post was all about Autumn and the way that mountains sink their sharp teeth into my soul, drawing the blood of desire, coagulating as poetry.
Today it’s the sea calling, again, because Summer has come to Australia.
This is where I was, an hour ago. I have just washed the salt from my skin. Take a breath. Dive in…
Catch!
It’s all
jumbled together,
but if I put
one thought
in front of another -
like my feet in the sand;
like these pelicans flying
in line astern down the beach -
I might build up instead
this picture, this place:
The open face
of the ocean uttering
and swallowing,
with each wave,
its own words.
Children chasing each other
like sea birds
and the sun, yellow,
spun like a Frisbee,
thrown overhead.
There's a certain calmness I feel at the beach where thoughts do come like footsteps and everything slows down. Really love this metaphor and indeed this whole piece! Brilliant photo again 👏
I live in a nice area, a nice house.. things are good, but the beach and landscape in those pictures are almost unimaginable to me, you're so lucky
